Job Description
Position Title: Senior Geophysicist
Reports To: Subsurface Director, with close coordination with COO and Asset Directors.
Work Location: Erbil Office with frequent visit to KH site.
Working Time: Sunday-Thursday (8:30-16:30)
KAR OG KH BLOCK DMCC is seeking an experienced Senior Geophysicist to join our team.
Role Summary:
The Senior Geophysicist provides technical leadership and assurance for geophysical activities across the Company’s assets. The role covers seismic planning, acquisition, processing, QC, interpretation, and integration to support exploration, appraisal, development, and well planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide technical assurance for 2D/3D seismic activities.
- Plan and review seismic surveys, acquisition programs, processing workflows, QC, and technical deliverables.
- Lead seismic interpretation, structural mapping, velocity modelling, and depth conversion.
- Integrate geophysical data with geology, wells, petrophysics, and reservoir studies.
- Support prospect identification, maturation, risking, volumetrics, and well-location decisions.
- Manage geophysical contractors, consultants, budgets, schedules, and technical performance.
- Ensure compliance with Company, HSE, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Provide technical input to exploration, appraisal, development, and drilling decisions.
- Mentor geophysicists and promote best practices and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 15+ years of oil & gas geophysical experience, preferably with an operator.
- Strong experience in 2D/3D seismic acquisition, processing, QC, and interpretation.
- Experience in seismic survey design, contractor management, prospect evaluation, and well planning.
- Strong knowledge of seismic interpretation and processing software.
